THE GIRL WITH A DIARY

Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” — Frederick Douglass.
Books, novels, memoirs... I wanted to read it all but more than that
I wanted to keep at least a paperback of anything I ever read.
But if you must know,
I never was able to do so. Lots of reason actually.
The most affecting criteria being that I never stayed at a place I can ever call home.
Since kindergarten all the way to junior school I was schooled in a boarding school in the hills away from family.
Lived in bunkers and with a trunk of belonging , so it wasn't exactly my ideal stockpile for if i ever did have a collection of books
This made me have another dream , "To have a place I call home." but lets leave this dream to another day.
Senior high went by in a jiffy , stayed as paying guests for two whole year so couldn't have that much belonging as I had to move soon, then came college , since that was on a different state altogether from my roots , I stayed at the students residence for four years and when I realized i'd be sharing that space with strangers( who soon become my best friends) and not wanting to inconvenience them I preferred to keep my belongings to a minimal.
Now after 22 years of nomadic stays when I finally landed a job , I thought I could settle down, but then to me more then settling, My career kept rushing my brains and so now I stay at an office-tel and by the time I noticed I'd already taken up to reading books online, maybe because they where only a click away, maybe this is the reason I choose computer science as my career , it made me somehow, subconsciously do what I like without missing out on it.
Even though I never actually had a collection of books to create a library in the future I did have a collection of my dairies from each year since I was 10 but something made me break down the reason I am still scared to buy books. My mum accidentally threw away all those pages with ink showcasing my memories, my life, thinking it was used notebooks and not needed anymore, well she did that because she didn't have enough space in her abode and since I know that I didn't have much to do with that place I couldn't convince her either way.
But I never gave up reading or writing , only difference is I carved through benches, trees , drew on wet ground because it would be there for forever and no one can discard my memories anymore, and as I type this I also realize I have finally started carving in the vast awesomeness of technology which hopefully no one can take away from me, at least not till I die.
This is how I have decided to bring back to life all memories that I once inked.
Once again I will be the girl with a diary.
